Krista hails from Orem, Utah where she trained from a young age in Jazz, Modern, Ballet and Ballroom dance.
She attended BYU for her undergraduate degree and graduated in Dance Education with a minor in Ballroom Dance. While at BYU she received multiple scholarships for the top Ballroom and Modern touring companies. She has won numerous titles at local and national competitions as an Amateur competitor in Latin, Standard, Rhythm, Smooth and Theater Arts.
Directly after graduation, she began her Master’s degree at the University of Utah in Modern Dance. Simultaneous to her graduate studies she joined the ranks as a professional competitor of Smooth, dancing with professional partner Nathan Cashion for one wonderful year. Together they were Rising Star, Open Professional, and Open Professional Show Dance finalist all over the US. She also became a certified Licentiate Ballroom Teacher through the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance (ISTD).
Krista took a semester break from graduate school to give birth to her son. She picked right back up to finish her thesis writing and defended her thesis December of 2014.
Krista is also a certified Laban/Bartenieff Movement analysis and Touch therapist, a complex movement vocabulary that has greatly impacted her dancing and teaching. Her professional experiences in Ballroom and Modern strongly influence her choreography, teaching methods and style of dance.
If you ever ask her what her favorite style of dance is she most likely will not answer you because she loves all of it!
