Gil was born in Puerto Rico but soon after the family moved to the States, landing first in Chicago, six years in New York and to Harrisonville, Missouri when he was thirteen.
Family has always been the center of Gil’s life. It was advice from his Grandmother that influenced his pursuit of dance. He relates, “She always said to me if you go to sleep and wake up dreaming of dancing, that is what you should be doing.” Her words have stuck with him.
When he is not on the dance floor he naturally enjoys time with family and friends and also likes to plummet from the sky—sky diving, and into the water—scuba diving. Horseback riding is another favorite. One day he’d like to do the Warrior Dash, the world’s largest obstacle race series held on the most rugged terrain in more than 50 locations across the globe. But don’t worry, he does not include any of that in dance lessons.
One of Gil’s favorite dances is West Coast Swing because, “You can pretty much dance to any genre of music from Rap to Country and anything in between.” He thinks most people would be surprised to know he loves County Music!
